One way or another, cock rings have always been within arm’s reach. A near-instant boost for my cock—who wouldn’t want that?
Whether it’s about harder erections, lasting longer, or just adding a bit of extra sensation, there’s something undeniably appealing about what a simple ring can do. And trust me, not all cock rings are created equal.
Today, I’ll be reviewing FirmTech‘s TechRing, which comes with a price tag of $275, and its tech-free counterpart, the MaxPR cock ring, priced at $60.
If you’re even slightly familiar with the expansive world of sex toys, gear, and gadgets, you know that $275 for an app-compatible ring is expensive — and $60 for a basic elastomer ring isn’t much better.
So, what’s going on here? Keep reading to find out.
Before we dive into the nitty-gritty details of these two rings, I want to mention that I tested both extensively.
I tried them during penetrative sex and casual masturbation (I also paired one with my Lovense Max 2 for the review, and let me tell you, that combo resulted in a heaven-like orgasm), and even wore the TechRing overnight to see how it holds up.
The TechRing, the pricier option from FirmTech, is app-compatible, but it’s not like your typical sex toy app where you can control vibrations or create custom patterns. In fact, the TechRing doesn’t vibrate at all.
Instead, it tracks your erectile fitness.
You might ask, “Why bother?” Well, the penis is often referred to as the “canary in the coal mine” for cardiovascular health. Before signs of a heart attack or diabetes appear, the frequency and strength of your nocturnal erections may decrease. It’s also a valuable indicator of how medications might be affecting your sexual health.
Let’s recap before we go into details….
Review in short
Things I liked
The loop feature, which holds everything snugly in place, is both exquisite and impressive.
Things I disliked
The current price may seem high, but with the upcoming upgrades, it will be well justified, and even considered a great value.
The tech-less counterpart, the MaxPR Ring, costs $60, which is also high for a no-tech elastomer ring, but it’s marketed more as a medical solution than a fun gadget, hence the price.
Key takeaway
The MaxPR Ring, the tech-less version, is the best non-vibrating ring I’ve tried.
While pricey, you probably won’t find a better one. It fits great and the loop features holds everything in place. It’s now my go-to nightstand cock ring.
The TechRing: If you have deep pockets and you’re curious about your erectile fitness, give it a shot. You’ll get some interesting graphs and data to examine and/or share with your doctor.
However, if you’re dealing with erectile issues, you might be better off talking to a doctor.
If you want a boost, stick with the MaxPR Ring. It’s cheaper and provides the physical support without the unnecessary bells and whistles.
The tech in the expensive version won’t fix any underlying issues. It’s a diagnostic aid, but it’s not a real solution (read more below on what could set the difference).
From my experience, I have to say that the company’s customer service was top-notch. If they treat their customers as well as they treated us reviewers, they truly deserve an award.
Box contents and unboxing
We received two rings: the Tech Ring and the Max Performance Ring. The Tech Ring came with instructional and promotional flyers, a charging station, a replacement TPE sleeve, and a storage bag. The Max PR cock ring came with a storage bag.
Size, weight, and material
Both rings are made from elastomer material. The Tech Ring has a tech component encapsulated in the elastomer, while the Max Performance Ring does not.
Interestingly, size isn’t important due to the rings’ design—they’re completely adjustable. The rings loop around both the penis and the balls, hooking onto the body from the other side.
If you’re smaller or prefer extra pressure, you can easily twist and re-loop to make it tighter, or simply stretch the elastomer loop tighter around the shaft. The material is super stretchy.
Both rings are also lightweight.
Features
I’ll start with the feature that continues to amaze me—the loop feature.
The loop wraps the cock ring around both the penis and testicles, creating a ball-hugging effect that heightens sensation in both areas. It also applies pressure to the urethra, helping to prolong ejaculation and intensify orgasms, while simultaneously applying pressure on venous return, which maximizes firmness.
What I love about this design is that it doesn’t take up much space, unlike some bulky cock rings, yet it delivers a significant boost.
The Tech Ring, in addition to the loop feature, has the mentioned app/connection.
Tech Ring app
Once started the app prompts you to fill out the medical profile, it just a couple of questions and BMI.
Now, the main screen shows this.
As you can see, the app provides a combined score, average firmness score, and data on nocturnal erections, including information from both sex and solo sessions.
You can access individual recordings, each of which shows a graph of your erection over time and its duration. There’s also additional data you’ll need to manually input after uploading each recording, such as whether you consumed alcohol, drugs, or medications, along with the option to add personal notes.
The data provided right now is very, very basic, especially for a $275 product.
This information could easily be expanded to draw conclusions and offer users personalized tips and advice based on their results.
Instead of just presenting raw numbers and graphs, the app should interpret the data for users, providing insights and actionable feedback. That would help justify the hefty price.
Right now, it’s just showing you what you can already observe, plus your nocturnal erections.
Here’s an example of what I think would justify the price – and after a conversation with company officials, they confirmed a lot of these updates are coming, some sooner, some later:
This is what I had in mind, for example, and for me, this would help justify the price:
- Allow users to compare their erectile fitness scores, firmness, and duration with others in their age group for more context.
- Offer tailored suggestions based on a user’s data, like lifestyle changes, exercises, or products to improve erectile health and stamina.
- Flag any concerning trends (e.g., low nocturnal erections or short durations) and suggest seeking medical advice if necessary.
- Enable users to monitor their improvement over time with detailed graphs and weekly/monthly performance summaries.
- Let users set personal goals for erection duration, frequency, or firmness, and track progress toward these goals.
- Provide articles or videos on sexual health, erectile fitness, and lifestyle tips directly in the app to help users improve.
- Include an anonymized community feature where users can see where they rank compared to the broader user base.
- Sync the app with health tracking devices (e.g., Fitbit, Apple Watch) to monitor overall wellness (heart rate, sleep, etc.) and correlate it with sexual health.
- Provide an option to connect users with medical professionals for advice based on their data.
I’d very much be interested in paying the premium to find out how strong are my erections and how long I can last in comparison to all men and men in my age group.
Premium.
How to record a Tech Ring session?
- Open the app and pair the ring.
- Click the ring once until it flashes blue, indicating the start of the pairing process (you’ll see this on the screen). If it doesn’t connect, click the ring again.
- Once paired, tap the ‘Start Recording’ button. The ring should flash green a few times—this means it’s recording.
- Do not close the app. You can minimize it, but keep it running in the background.
- When you’re done, hold the button on the ring until it flashes red, signaling the end of the recording.
- Reopen the app, pair the ring again by following the same steps, and the recording will sync automatically.
- Remember, the recording needs to last longer than 10 minutes. If you’re doing a quick session, wear the ring a bit before or after to ensure the recording is valid.
My experience with the rings
The app and all about it I pretty much covered.
I want to talk about how I actually felt—and how my penis felt. Both rings provided excellent support and firmness, fitting perfectly around the penis. I also appreciated how little space they took up.
When aroused, my penis felt incredibly powerful. It was hard, bulbous, veiny, and strong—it’s crazy how intense the sensation was.
And it wasn’t just my penis that got a boost; my confidence did too, even though I didn’t feel like I needed it.
The solo sessions were great and sex with Leja was also great. She definitely noticed the beast and I definitely noticed that I lasted somewhat longer which I liked.
I wore it overnight, which I didn’t really enjoy—not because of the ring itself (which was great), but because my penis stayed semi-hard or fully hard for most of the time I was trying to sleep, and that was uncomfortable.
On the other hand, I used it with a masturbator (check out my Lovense Max 2 review), and the experience was beyond amazing. My penis—no, my super mighty cock—was massaged by the Max 2’s air pumps, and it felt like I had dipped it into a pool of pure, palpable pleasure.
As I mentioned in my review, this was easily the most pleasurable solo experience or combination I’ve ever had.
Both ring were easy to put on and remove, aside from a couple of pinched hair but I do not care about that.
How to charge the Tech Ring cock ring?
Wrap it around the charger and hook it to itself. Connect the charger to the cube. Not sure what the exact charging time is but you’ll get 8-10 hours of running time.
How to clean the Firm Tech rings?
Clean with warm water and soap, do not drown in water.
Special considerations when using the rings
Folks who have hand dexterity or mobility issues might have trouble looping and hooking the ring around the penis.
Final words
As mentioned above, FirmTech absolutely nailed it with the loop feature, and the Max PR ring has now become my go-to.
It’s everything I’ve ever wanted in a cock ring.
The pricier Tech Ring offers the same benefits with added app integration, but unless you have a big budget or love tracking statistics, I wouldn’t recommend it – yet.
I’ll be keeping a close eye on the company’s advancements and app progress because I believe it has the potential to become a leader in penis health. However, I can’t fully recommend spending $275 on it at this moment, whether you have ED or any other penis-related concerns.
Both the app and the instructions need improvement, but with coming upgrades, this could easily transform this gadget into a true penis health superpower.
If you’re seeking medical help for erectile issues, consult a professional. However, you should give the MaxPR a try as well.
