When traveling, we like to bring some toys with us. Whether just an overnight stay or a longer vacation, even a camping trip, we always like to bring something fun.

Often, selecting toys that are convenient to bring takes some effort and thought through.

There are many factors: how much space the toy takes up in our luggage, how many ways we can use it, and how much we generally enjoy using this toy.

We are always excited to try small and compact toys that could be our new addition to traveling, and today I’m sharing a toy that is just that.

A travel companion – Surge vibrator from Good Vibes.

Fun fact about Good Vibes

Did you know that Good Vibes started Masturbation Month 29 years ago?

They created this pleasure-filled celebration back in 1995 after the Surgeon General of the US, Dr. Joycelyn Elders, was fired for speaking openly about masturbation.

In response, Good Vibes put on their Sexual Health & Pleasure activist hats, declared May as National Masturbation Month, and since then have been working tirelessly to erase sexual shame and make masturbation completely acceptable for anyone who chooses it.

A-mazing!

Surge review in short

Things we like about Surge

Small and compact yet powerful vibrations somewhere in between buzzy and rumbly. Satisfying range of vibration modes. Ribbed texture is a very nice addition.

Things we disliked about Surge

Insertable length is a bit too short and the button is not very visible. Since Surge is small, when in use vibration transfers on the hand which isn’t suitable for prolonged use as it may make the hand. The price may not be suitable for every budget.

Key takeaway from Surge review

Surge delivers very strong vibrations and is an excellent addition to any play time, specifically partner play. Its small body fits seamlessly between partners in any position. Surge is great for clitoral stimulation while it can also provide a shallow insertion, but it lacks some length.

Surge box contents and unboxing

Very simple box with a toy and charger inside of it. All of the instructions are listed on the box.

Surge size, weight, and material

Surge measures 4’’ (10 cm) in length, out of which around 2’’ (5 cm) is insertable, and 1’’ (2.5 cm) in diameter.

The toy is also very lightweight. I can barely feel that there’s anything in my hand. It fits nicely in hand and it’s easy to hold.

Made out of 100% body-safe silicone, surge is also 100% waterproof.

Surge features

Equipped with 10 incremental speeds, Surge has very powerful vibrations which fall somewhere in between buzzy and rumbly.

The speeds are more the vibration modes as they are speeds. Some levels have the same pattern with increased speed while others are patterns. The range of vibrations is pleasant and enjoyable.

It has one button which is almost invisible when the toy is turned off. When turned on the button lights up, but even then it isn’t very visible.

The surge has a nice curve with a pinpointed tip for focused stimulation. It also has a ribbed texture close to the tip.

Surge is insertable but it is not designed for anal insertion.

Our experience using Surge

Using Surge alone

I tried surge as a clitoral stimulator and as a vibrator. When it comes to clitoral stimulation I like to try toys over the clitoral hood and directly on the clitoris because it gives me different sensations.

Since Surge has such powerful vibrations I knew I’ll have to start small, over my clitoral hood, until my body gets used to it.

Small surge vibrator

The vibrations feel very nice, different from the regular buzzing vibrations, and they provide a more in depth feeling.

When moving directly to the clitoris, the vibrations are pretty strong for me. I am more sensitive in that area and prefer lower and more mellow sensations.

When it comes to the insertion, Surge is a great toy for shallow insertion. It gives more of a teasing vibe and stretching the entrance than it does full on thrusting vibes.

I tried inserting to the full insertable length but it was just too short for me and it didn’t bring me that much of a pleasure.

Using Surge together

As I mentioned at the beginning of this review, we are always looking for new toys that can be traveled with.

So when trying it together, we taught about how it would be to travel with it and how we would use it when traveling.

In the multiple times we tested Surge together, more than half of those were quickies.

Surge fits seamlessly between us and it doesn’t feel like it’s in the way, which is very important to us. Cycling through modes is pretty easy and straightforward.

I think that Surge is a great addition to our play time. I can quickly place it over my clitoral hood in any position, it’s easy to hold, and it helps me orgasm much faster and stronger.

All of that is specifically good for quickies. And it can easily fit my purse. It can easily fit Luka’s pocket too.

Surge passed our travel compatibility test and we will definitely bring it with us on our next adventure.

Is Surge a loud toy?

Surge is neither quiet nor loud. It operates on a regular level of sound.

How to charge Surge?

Surge is charged with a standard charger. For 2.5 hours of charge, Surge will work for 1 hour.

How to clean Surge?

Surge is 100% waterproof and it can be fully submerged in water. It can be cleaned with mild soap and warm water.

Special considerations when using Surge

Surge is small in size and it may be hard to hold for individuals with limited hand strength or mobility.

Since the button is not very visible it may be harder to locate it during use.

Due to strong vibrations, this toy might not be suitable for folks with increased sensations. For the same reason it might be suitable for folks with decreased sensations.

Since the vibrations travel throughout the toy, it may not be suitable to use for prolonged periods of time.

Final words

Surge is a very powerful toy packed in a small package. Higher price point is somewhat justified with the strength of the toy.

It offers a nice range of vibration modes, but its powerful vibrations may not be suitable for folks looking for lighter stimulation.

The vibrations travel through the toy and after a while, Surge becomes uncomfortable to hold.

When we talk about internal stimulation, Surge was too short for me and it provided more of a teasing sensation.

I personally preferred partner play over solo play with Surge. It was just seamless, convenient  and enjoyable using it with Luka. It passed our travel test and it will be our travel companion in the future.

Where to buy Surge
