We’ve all heard about Dame, right? Well I definitely hope you did, but If you somehow managed not to, allow me to change that.
Dame is a US based company founded by a sexologist and MIT engineer when they designed Eva – a wearable, handsfree couple’s vibe.
Eva was the most crowdfunded sex toy in history. And it’s clear why. It’s just so different I took me a while to understand how it’s used. Luckily they have these super cute videos that show how to use a certain toy. I’m a big fan of those!
Dame’s second product Fin is the first sex toy allowed on Kickstarter. So when Katie from XOXTOYS sent one to us it also became the first Dame product that will be reviewed on this blog.
But if you don’t feel like reading a bunch of details, here’s the verdict.
In the box
The box itself is pretty simple as well as what’s inside: toy, charger, storage pouch, dame sticker and instruction booklet.
The instruction booklet is pretty and illustrated which is much appreciated. Especially after the last toy I opened had a Chinese manual with the worst translation ever.
By now it’s clear to everyone living on this planet that the whole image and perspective of a brand depends on these “small” things. Not only how much effort you put into designing a toy but also how you present yourself and whatever items you are selling.
And even though this should be normal, unfortunately it still isn’t. That’s why I like to see nice and illustrated booklets, pamphlets, manuals or whatever you wanna call it.
And I like when they have a lot of info because even though I read this a million times, this may be someone’s first toy ever and it will be absolutely helpful for them to learn how to take care of their toy.
We all want to be happy and excited when opening a new toy, so brands – make us happy, and make us excited.
(Ok Leja, focus on the toy in front of you.)
Meet Fin
Fin is a wearable vibrator that is worn between the fingers. It has two parts – the vibrator and removable tether.
Made out of medical grade silicone it feels smooth and sits comfortably between fingers.
It can be worn in two ways – with the vibrator sitting on top of fingers or with the vibrator sitting under fingers. No matter which way the toy is turned it’s comfortable to hold.
The tether is stretchy and comfortable and it holds the toy in place.
Fin has only one button that serves as an on/off button as well as a control of a vibrator settings. I can cycle through the settings or hold the button to turn the toy off.
Fin also has a small bump at the top which would help with sending the vibrations to my clit.
More technical specifications
Fin is a small toy and it measures 1.57’’ (4 cm) in length, 1.57’’ (4 cm) in height and around 1.18 inch (3 cm) in depth. The crease for fingers is 0.6’’ (1.5 cm) wide and it would easily fit bigger fingers.
As I already mentioned the tether is very stretchy. When placed on fingers the tether measures around 1.97’’ (5 cm) from the top to the connection with the toy.
Fin only has 3 vibration intensities. And that’s a big disappointment for me. For a toy of such quality and price I was expecting more than just buzzing slow, fast and super fast.
Fin is splash proof and shouldn’t be submerged in water. Dame also recommends staying away from silicone lube with this toy (they recommend this for all of their toys).
Charging Fin from a completely drained battery takes 2.5 hours. On the lowest setting that’s 5 hours of play and on the highest setting that’s 75 minutes of play. Fin also comes with a 3-year warranty and it’s available in Navy and Jade.
Playing with Fin
Since Fin is advertised as a couple’s vibrator we wanted to try it on two fronts – with me using it and with Luka using it, while playing together.
We started fooling around and Luka wanted to be the first one to play with a new toy. What a surprise (haha).
He was running his fingers around my body with Fin placed between his fingers. For him, Fin was comfortable to hold and the tether wasn’t too tight on his fingers.
When used over the panties, the lowest setting is super light and I couldn’t feel too much. In general the middle setting was the most comfortable for me, panties or no panties. The highest setting was just too much and too loud.
After a while the tether fell off and we didn’t feel like stopping because of that so we kept using it without it. Even though that made it easier to pass the Fin around, it also made it easier for Fin to slip out of our hands.
It’s easy to change the vibration intensity but we weren’t. We mostly used the middle one.
When talking about placement of the toy, in some positions like when I was riding, it was easier for Luka to turn the vibe on top of his finger as it was easier to reach towards me.
My favorite position is on my belly where I can hold Fin still between my fingers and move my hips around it instead of moving the toy itself.
I read somewhere online that if you prefer a filing of fingers touching you (yours or your partner’s) rather than a toy, Fin can be placed on top of your fingers which will turn your finger into a conduit for the vibration.
I didn’t even think of doing that, but it’s such a good tip.
Additional information
This part is a novelty in our reviews and here, I’m going to try and interpret the information for folks who are often not mentioned in online reviews.
If I’m wrong, please correct me.
For bigger folks
To use this toy you need to be able to comfortably reach your genitals and hold it for the duration of use which may cause additional fatigue.
For older folks
The highest vibration is pretty strong. The buttons are easy to find but not so easy to push mid use. The minimal amount of active grasp is needed to use this toy.
For folks with disabilities
For folks who experience increased sensations only the lowest intensity would be usable. On the other hand for folks who experience decreased sensations only the highest intensity would be usable.
For transgender & gender-diverse folks
My wish was to include information on how this toy would work for transgender and gender-diverse folks but this is far out of my scope of knowledge, so if someone would like to pitch in, please do!
Final thoughts
In the world of finger vibrators I think that the Fin is a good one. It’s small, practical to use and very comfortable to wear.
The tether does come off sometimes but for us that wasn’t such a big deal. I only wish it would have more vibration options and intensities.
I like that it’s pretty versatile for such a small toy and it can be worn and used in different ways. Which surprised me because it isn’t something I was expecting from a finger vibrator.
I would say Fin’s price is similar to finger vibrators from other brands and I think it’s a good buy if you’re in the market for finger vibrators.
You can get Fin on XOXTOYS website for $85.99
