Review: The Handy

For that reason, I was intrigued when one Norwegian company emailed us about their new product – The Handy, the ultimate hand-job machine.

A chance to try receiving a handjob from a machine? Hell yeah.

A short glance over the product’s website and I saw few bold claims: ‘’the sex toy that revolutionizes masturbating’’ or ‘’the most advanced sex toy ever created, with guaranteed mind-blowing orgasms.’’ 

Is it really? Well, let’s dive into the review and see if they rise up to their claims.

The Handy – the ultimate hand-job machine

The machine comes in a black, sleek box with the image of The Handy featured on the front side. The whole box has a matte finish, except for the image in front which is glossy. 

I have to say that I fancy the box design, it has that luxurious note and it is definitely eye-catching.

Something that I would expect from a product designed in Oslo in Norway.

Don’t know why – so don’t ask.

What’s included in the box? There are several items that you get:

First and foremost, there is The Handy with TrueGrip band preattached, TrueGrip sleeve, and power cable.

You also get a user manual. The lubrication samples that were supposed to be in the box – were not there. 

Let’s talk numbers

Before we start talking about the actual use, I’d like to go over the few main specs. 

The Handy is capable of doing 0-10 strokes per second, with each stroke being to 4.5 inches (11 cm) long. And the sleeve diameter is 0.5-3″ (1-7cm).

Or, in layman terms, The Handy is a really fast machine capable of doing strokes long enough to accommodate every penis out there. 

The Handy in use

So, let’s start with the basics. How does it work?

The Handy is a cylinder-shaped machine with a pre-attached Velcro band that moves up and down, doing strokes.

The second part is the TrueGrip sleeve, and the third part is the power cable. 

No, The Handy is not powered by batteries, it needs to be connected to a power source all the time. 

I’m not a fan of this option but my guess is that the machine would not have that power if it was powered by a battery. And the power cable is long enough so it’s not that big of a problem.

Setup is easy, so in just a few steps you’ll be getting a mechanical hand-job. 

You’ll probably want to start by positioning yourself in a lying or sitting position. The position I liked the best is lying down but with few pillows under my head. Somewhere in between lying down and sitting. 

Next, connect the Handy with the power supply and the power supply with the power cable. The system is very similar to the laptop charger.

After you connected The Handy to the power source, it is time to put the sleeve on. 

This step is much easier if you’re already hard, but you’ll manage even if you are not.

Also, this is the time to apply lube. You can do it without, lube is not necessary but it would definitely add to the experience.

The right way to go is to insert the penis as far as it goes in the sleeve.

Notice ”rails” on the outer side of the sleeve. Those rails will ensure that everything stays in place during the session, even on higher speed settings.

Now it is time to connect The Handy and your penis. 🙂 

Wrap the sleeve and your penis with the Velcro band, making sure that the buttons are facing you.

The Handy has 6 buttons and one LED indicator.

Buttons are nicely designed and very responsive so you won’t have any problem changing the speed or the stroke length during your session.

Turn it on by pressing the Power button and then continue to adjust the speed of the strokes with left and right buttons and the length of the stroke by pressing up and down buttons.

What I also liked is the amount of sound the machine makes, which is very little. Even when I bumped the speed up, the machine was silent-ish. 

I mean, the whole process from start to finish is rather simple. It might be confusing the first time but you’ll get the hang of it soon.

The Handy hand-job

The hand-job was pretty good. 

I think it’s not comparable to the real thing, especially if a partner jerks you off, but it was pretty close. 

As soon as I got it, I had to try it. No waiting.

I made myself comfortable on the couch, opened PornHub on TV, and started ‘’The Handy.’’ Honestly, I felt weird but that didn’t last too long. Few minutes of touching myself and I was hard. 

Putting the sleeve on wasn’t a problem, and neither was wrapping my dick with Velcro.

The first setting I chose was longer strokes and slower speed, let’s say 20% of the max speed. As I was getting more aroused, I started gradually increasing the speed.

Eventually, I shortened the length of the stroke. I was hard as a rock by then.

My skepticism about machines giving hand-jobs was gone. 

Cleaning and storing

The sleeve is the part which you will have to clean most thoroughly. It’s made from TPE, which does not contain any phthalates, which is good, but the material is porous. 

Porous materials are hard (almost impossible) to clean because they trap bacteria inside the pores. 

Although you can keep your sleeve clean-ish for some time, we suggest that you occasionally replace the sleeve with a new one. Also, don’t share it with anyone else.

The best way to clean your sleeve is with warm water and soap, rinse it thoroughly and leave it out to dry.

I would also suggest turning the sleeve inside out for a deeper clean.

The machine itself can be wiped with a slightly damped cloth and the Velcro band can be taken off the machine and rinsed easily.

Note that this machine is not to be used near or in water, and it should be completely dried before use.

Storing the machine is fairly easy, especially if you keep it in the box it came in. 

More possibilities

This is the interesting part.

The Handy has several accessibility options. 

First, you should connect your device to their online service – instructions for that can be found on the Handy Setup website. 

I managed to do it from the first try in about 5 minutes. Easy peasy.

Now, there are several things you can try:

• Connect your phone to control the device
• Connect your partner’s phone so they control the device for you
• Synchronize the device with video (porn)
• Connect your device with Amazon Echo or Google Home

The first thing on the list is something I didn’t find useful. Holding the device in one hand and the big ass smartphone in the other is just not practical. But okay, you have that option too if you choose to use it.

The second one is much better. Your partner can be anywhere in the world and can control your Handy. That’s sexy. 

They even went a step further, your partner can use movement sensors on their phone to control the movement. Now we’re talking!

The next one on the list is my favorite one. 

There are 21 porn videos available on their site, with which you can synchronize your device. And that’s an amazing thing to try. Some of the videos have the option of connecting the VR set. I didn’t try that, but I would definitely like to.

There is also the option of connecting the device to smart speakers like Amazon Echo or Google Home. I did not try that, but I guess it’s working perfectly fine. 

I don’t see a point in controlling the device with your smart speaker but theoretically, there could be a situation where that may be useful.

Closing words

I think I covered all the bases. All in all, The Handy is an interesting product to try. 

It is well made, it is equipped with state-of-the-art technology (dual processor, 10 different sensors, brushless motor) and it delivers on the promise.

Price? You can get The Handy for 160$ which may sound a bit too much, but considering the type of the toy and the quality, I can say it is reasonably priced.

What I appreciate is the fact that it can be used both for solo play and for partner play.
