FetLife is like Facebook, just kinky. After 15 interviews with various people from the industry (at the time of editing this article), we decided to create a FetLife account. Why? Many of our dear guests mentioned and suggested FetLife as the best way to connect with fellow kinksters and members of the BDSM community.
What is FetLife?
FetLife is a social network for the BDSM, fetish, and kinky community. As it says on their homepage: ”Like Facebook, but run by kinksters like you and me. We think it is more fun that way.” Very cute and true slogan.
The difference between FetLife and similar sites is in the fact that FetLife is a social network, not a dating site. In 2017. they published information that their network has over 6 million members. Pretty impressive!
You need an account to explore FetLife.
How to create a FetLife account?
We took screenshots while we were creating our profile. The whole process is short and rather simple, it didn’t take us more than 10 minutes.
This is what you find when you get to their homepage. To continue press ”Join FetLife”. On the next screen, you have to fill up with details about yourself, nothing dramatic.
Click ”Almost There!” when you finish.
It takes you to the profile picture upload page, but you can easily skip that step and upload it later. That’s what we did.
Last step! Verify your number. It helps in keeping the network healthy. As is says: ”Something we think you will appreciate once you are on the other side.” Very true. After this step – you’re in! In the upper left corner, you have all the navigation elements (Search, Home, Explore, Groups, Events, Places, Fetishes), while you can find details about your profile in the upper right corner. Very simple.

How to… FetLife?
I just wanted to say a few words about some do’s and don’ts on FetLife. Use common sense when using and exploring FetLife. Be respectful and mindful of other user’s privacy and personal space. Read the whole profile of a user and act accordingly. Don’t send messages and/ or pictures if one does not want that. There is no much philosophy about this, treat others how you would like others to treat you – respectfully.
Take a few minutes of your time and read community guidelines. Something that could also come in handy is safety philosophies.
Send us your questions & add us on FetLife. Have a wonderful day. 🙂
