If you’re just starting out, we recommend you buy a breathable ball gag so you or your partner get used to wearing them. Later, you can easily switch to solid ball gags. These gags are, in a way, more intense and will be easier to handle once you get a feeling of how they are.

Often, they are sold in several different sizes to the wearer gradually gets used to the feeling of having something like that in their mouth.

The size of the ball is important. If the ball gag is too small it won’t serve the purpose, if it’s too big, it will hurt your jaw after some time.

Through research, we found out that if you’re a petite person, it’s most likely you’ll only need ones labeled as small. Folks with bigger bodies than petite will probably need medium and/or bigger ones. A size bigger than necessary can also be used as a part of the play, to purposely cause more stretch in a submissive.

O-ring gags

O-ring gags are also known as open-mouth gags. Instead of a ball, there is an O-shaped ring that holds the wearer’s mouth open which allows for inserting things inside (think facefucking).

Ball gags with dildos

Using a ball gag

Here is how we have used ball gags so far.

• Luka often puts the ball gag on me to further reinforce the Dominant/submissive dynamic during a play
• He sometimes gags me during our spanking or impact play sessions. I’m not able to fully yell/scream and that eventually helped me relax during those plays. Often, when we ended, the gag had bite marks.
• He sometimes gags me during anal
• During a play where he was submissive partner, he wore a ball gag with a dildo and I fucked myself with his head

How to use ball gags safely?

Like with any other toy, you should talk with your partner about introducing a ball gag into your relationship. Talk about it with your partner and choose the right model for you, especially if you are a beginner.

Talk about consent, your desires, and expectations. Break down the play so both sides are aware of what is going to happen during it and agree to it.

Once you put the gag on, it’s impossible to speak, to express your consent or disapproval.

That’s why this should all be discussed prior to the play.

Safe words can’t be used when the partner is gagged, so make sure to agree on a signal before the play. The way how the gagged partner will express the safe word has to be clear and easily understandable.

You can incorporate things like grunting in rhythm, blinking, squeezing Dom’s hand, shaking your head, or holding some other object.

If you are using it for the first time, start easy and don’t wear it for longer than 15 minutes. Otherwise, you might get a sore jaw straight away.
