Over the past few years, long-distance and app-controlled toys have been growing rapidly, with brands focusing not only on hardware features but also on refining their apps and overall user experience.
Lovense has been at the forefront of that evolution, particularly when it comes to the quality of their app.
And since the Gush 2 is one of their most talked-about toys for penis owners, we had to see if it lives up to the hype.
It’s easy to think of strokers as strictly solo toys. And yes, they absolutely shine there. But when you can hand someone else the controls, everything changes.
If you’re reading this, you probably want to know three things: does it actually work hands-free, is it worth the price, and can it hold its own against competitors?
This review covers all of that, plus fit guidance, app setup, real-world noise levels, during-sex practicality, and the ownership details most reviews skip.
I’ve also reviewed two of their other strokers: Solace and Max 2. And if you’re curious about the Lovense app itself, I’ve covered that in a separate in-depth review.
How did I test Lovense Gush 2?
The Lovense Gush 2 went through proper testing over multiple weeks. I used it across 8 sessions, trying it with and without the app, at various intensity levels, and in different positions.
Solo sessions, app-controlled sessions, and a few partnered scenarios to see how it holds up in real use, not just on paper.
Lovense Gush 2 review in short
Things I liked about Lovense Gush 2
Powerful, targeted stimulation. Oscillation motor feels genuinely different from generic vibration. Hands free operation with adjustable band. Excellent app ecosystem. Quiet at low to moderate settings and relatively discreet for a powered penis toy. Works well for edging and stamina training with customizable intensity ramping. Compact and more travel friendly than full size strokers.
Things I disliked about Lovense Gush 2
Fit can be finicky. The band is fiddly to adjust, especially with lube, and finding the right tension requires some experimentation. No storage pouch included. The weight can cause the device to lean or pull, so some users may need a supporting hand despite the hands free design. On-device controls are limited to just 7 patterns, to unlock the toy’s full potential, you really need the app.
Key takeaway from Lovense Gush 2 review
The Gush 2 is best suited for anyone who wants targeted frenulum and glans stimulation without gripping a stroker for 20 minutes. It excels at edging, stamina training, and long-distance partner play. The dual-motor system delivers sensations that feel distinctly different from a traditional sleeve masturbator. The price might feel steep, though the value you get through the app ecosystem and dual-motor system does justify it.
Lovense Gush 2 box contents and unboxing
The Gush 2 ships in a discreet, sealed box with no explicit branding on the outer packaging.
Along with the toy itself, the box includes two adjustable silicone bands for hands-free securing, a magnetic USB charging cable with a USB-A connector, a quick-start guide and user manual, and a QR code linking to the Lovense Remote app.
Lovense Gush 2 size, weight and material
The Gush 2 is 4.17 inches (10.6 cm) long and 2.95 inches (7.5 cm) wide with an open width of 2.13 inches (54 mm), and weighs 6.88 oz (195 g).
The bands are 10 inches (25.4 cm) long and 0.6 inches (1.5 cm) wide, with a double-prong buckle and eight adjustment holes.
It feels soft and slightly matte to the touch, with enough flexibility in the wings to wrap comfortably around varying girths.
It’s made from body-safe silicone with ABS plastic accents for the motor housing, charging contacts, and button.
Build quality feels premium overall, with no sharp edges, rough seams, or noticeable pressure points during use. The mirrored accent plate adds a sleek aesthetic touch, though it is purely cosmetic.
What is the Lovense Gush 2 (and what it’s designed to stimulate)
For anyone new to this category of toy, a quick primer: the frenulum is the small V-shaped ridge of tissue where the glans meets the shaft on the underside of the penis.
For most people, it’s the single most sensitive spot – more concentrated with nerve endings than the rest of the glans combined.
The Gush 2 is designed to sit directly over this area and deliver targeted vibration and oscillation without requiring any holding or stroking.
This is not a stroker. It doesn’t enclose the shaft or create a sleeve-like sensation. Instead, think of it as a wearable vibrating pad that wraps around the upper portion of the penis using flexible silicone “wings” and locks in place with the included band.
The oscillation pad sits against the frenulum, while the broader vibration motor distributes sensation through the wings for a surrounding effect.
The result is something closer to focused oral stimulation than the in-and-out motion of a masturbator sleeve.
It’s a different approach, and it won’t appeal to everyone, but for those who respond well to targeted vibration on the frenulum and glans, it can be extremely effective.
Lovense Gush 2 features
Dual-motor system (vibration + oscillation)
The Gush 2 has two distinct stimulation modes that can work independently or simultaneously: vibration from the main motor in the body, and oscillation from the linear motor driving the frenulum pad.
The vibration is rumbly rather than buzzy. It resonates through the silicone wings and creates a surrounding, warming sensation.
The oscillation is more direct and precise, delivering rapid back and forth pressure specifically against the frenulum at up to 4,300 movements per minute.
Hands-free wearable design with adjustable band
The Gush 2 comes with two silicone bands that loop around the shaft to hold the massager in place. Only one band is used at a time, while the other one is a replacement. Getting the fit right is probably the single biggest factor in whether this toy becomes a favorite or a frustration.
The wings should wrap snugly around the upper shaft or glans area without squeezing uncomfortably. The oscillation pad (the raised contact point at the top of the device) should sit directly against the frenulum for the most effective stimulation.
The band loops through slots on the sides of the device and buckles around the shaft below the toy.
The Gush 2 has a single button used for powering the toy on and off and cycling through the preset patterns.
App-controlled and interactive features
The Lovense Remote app is where the Gush 2 really opens up. It provides independent control over vibration and oscillation intensity via two slider bars, making it easy to dial in exactly the right combination.
Beyond manual control, the app offers preset patterns, custom pattern creation, music sync, and media sync (VibeMate) for interactive content and cam sites.
Long-distance partner control
This is one of Lovense’s strongest selling points. A partner can take full control of the Gush 2’s vibration and oscillation settings from anywhere in the world with an internet connection.
Latency is generally minimal, with near instantaneous response over Wi Fi and roughly a one to two second delay on cellular data.
This makes it a strong option for long distance relationships, cam performers, and couples who enjoy power exchange dynamics.
My experience using Lovense Gush 2
When I first started using the Lovense Gush 2, I noticed that fit and placement can change as you become more erect. If you put it on while still soft, you might need to adjust it later since the increase in circumference can shift the toy’s position slightly.
Personally, I found it easier to put it on when I was already partially erect so it stayed in place better during use.
One small thing I learned quickly is that lube can make the band harder to handle. If the entire shaft is slippery, the toy tends to slide around while you’re trying to position it.
What worked best for me was applying lube directly to the contact surface of the toy rather than everywhere. That way the band could still grip securely while the vibrating surface stayed comfortable.
I found it worked best during long teasing sessions. In that kind of slow build up, the toy really shines. The stimulation around the frenulum area felt extremely pleasurable and ended up being one of my favorite aspects of the design.
Another thing I really liked was the Lovense app. Being able to create my own vibration patterns was surprisingly fun and allowed me to tailor the experience exactly to my preferences. Once I dialed in a pattern that worked for me, it added a whole extra layer of control and made the toy feel much more personal.
Is Lovense Gush 2 a loud toy?
Context matters more than decibel numbers here.
In a quiet room at arm’s length, the Gush 2 is audible at medium-to-high settings, especially the oscillation motor. It produces a low hum, not a high-pitched buzz.
Under a blanket or comforter, it’s effectively masked at low-to-medium settings.
High oscillation is still faintly audible but easily covered by any background noise.
How to charge Lovense Gush 2?
Charging takes approximately 75 minutes from empty to full using the included magnetic USB cable.
Lovense claims up to 110 minutes of runtime, which holds true at low to moderate intensity with a single motor active.
When running both vibration and oscillation at mid to high levels, battery life decreases to roughly 60 to 80 minutes.
At maximum intensity on both motors, runtime drops to around 45 to 60 minutes.
How to clean Lovense Gush 2?
After each use, rinse the Gush 2 under warm running water.
For a more thorough clean, apply a small amount of toy cleaner or mild antibacterial soap, cover all surfaces with attention to textured areas and the gap between the wings, then rinse thoroughly.
Pat dry with a lint free cloth or allow it to air dry completely before storage.
The Gush 2 has an IPX7 waterproof rating, meaning it can be submerged in up to one meter of water for up to 30 minutes.
It is safe to use in the shower and can be rinsed under running water without concern about fluids or lubricant affecting the internal components.
Special considerations when using Lovense Gush 2
Individuals with reduced penile sensation (from conditions like diabetic neuropathy or nerve damage) should be cautious, as they may not notice warning signs of overstimulation or circulatory restriction.
Anyone with reduced manual dexterity may struggle with the buckle system, which is small and fiddly, especially with lube.
Pubic hair generally doesn’t interfere with fit, but very thick hair at the base of the shaft could prevent the band from sitting flat.
The on-device controls are limited to a single button cycling through 7 patterns. Full customization requires the Lovense app, so anyone who has difficulty using a smartphone or navigating apps will have a more limited experience.
Lovense Gush 2 vs Lovense Gush 1
The original Gush had a single vibration motor and one included band.
The Gush 2 is noticeably larger and heavier (195 g vs. 133 g), but the extra mass comes from a bigger motor housing and softer, more flexible silicone.
The wings are more pliable, reducing the pinching that some Gush users reported.
The button has been relocated from the top to the bottom for easier access during use, and the device now comes with two adjustable bands instead of one.
The headline upgrade is the dedicated oscillation motor. The original Gush only had vibration, which dispersed more broadly through the toy’s body.
The Gush 2’s oscillation is far more focused and intense, and it’s also quieter than the original at similar intensity levels.
Final words
The Lovense Gush 2 is a well-designed toy in a category that’s still pretty niche. It does something specific, and it does it well.
The addition of the oscillation motor is what takes it from an interesting novelty to a legitimate go-to.
It’s not without flaws. The fit takes some figuring out, the weight means truly hands-free use doesn’t work for everyone, and the app is more or less essential to get the most out of it.
But for edging, stamina training, hands-free solo play, and especially long-distance partner control – there’s really nothing else on the market that does it quite this well.
Where to buy Lovense Gush 2
