From the early existence of rabbit vibrators (certainly even before) we’ve been all for the double stimulation. I know I have. 

And even though I couldn’t find historical files written on the papyrus, I’m pretty sure there is one somewhere in the world. Probably has a drawing of an ancient dildo, or something along those lines.

Everyone wants to be the one to think of the next best thing. The competition is fierce. And I love it! Because it gives us more options to choose from and it’s becoming easier to find a piece that matches our unique body types. 

But sometimes choosing the right toy can be overwhelming. With so many available options, how do you pick? 

Well, hopefully I’ll be able to help you. I’m going to give you the most detailed description of a toy – Joi by Honey Play Box so you can decide if that’s something that might work for you.

But if you don’t feel like reading a bunch of details, here’s the verdict:

Unboxing Honey Play Box Joi

Joi comes in a nice sturdy two piece box with a picture of the toy on the front. Inside of the box is very simple. Orange toy that sits nicely in a foam divider with charger on the side and a simple user manual. 

I would like to see some kind of a storage solution. Even though it’s completely fine to keep toys in a drawer or a box, I prefer to keep mine in a storage bag of some kind. 

It’s just a personal preference. I have this image in my mind that the toy gets dusty if it just sits there. 

I believe that any toy should absolutely be washed before and after use anyway.  

What is Honey Play Box Joi

Joi is a dual stimulator toy that has a rotating head vibrator and a licking tongue. Wow, that’s a mouthful. It’s actually very simple once you see it.

The first thought that came into my mind when I saw the toy was: “umbrella handle with a tongue”. When placed down it reminds me of a worm. My mind is weird. 

Joi has 3 motors. The first one controls the 360 rotating head. Second one is positioned in the middle of the toy and emits regular vibrations. Those two motors are controlled with one button. 

The third motor is located on the licking tongue. The tongue moves up and down and there are no additional vibrations coming from that part of the toy. The third motor is controlled with a separate button.

Joi is also available in yellow and purple even though purple looks more like burgundy to me.

Made mostly out of body safe silicone. There is a small ABS part which has the Honey Play Box logo on it. Joi is also waterproof which makes it a great choice for shower play. 

Total length is 6.80’ (17 cm) with insertable length around 5’ (12.7 cm). Total width is 3.60’ (9 cm). The head measures 1.48’ (3.8 cm) in diameter. 

The tongue is soft and stretchy and it measures 0.39’ (1 cm) in length and 0.51’ (1.3 cm) in width.

The Joi itself is light. It weighs 0.48 lbs (218 g)

The body of Joi, just below the rotating head, has a little bit of thickening and ridge-like texture. 

Other than that the toy is very simple – two buttons and a charging connection. The charger is magnetic and for one hour of charging you get 2 hours of play. 

The rotating head has 7 patterns – 3 of them are continuous movement and the other four are incremental movements. 

The licking tongue has 7 identical patterns as the rotating head. 

The vibrations are buzzy and the Joi isn’t really quiet. Especially when both parts of the toy are being used.

Honey Play Box Joi Performance

Starting my play with Joi I wanted to get myself in the mood so I played with my nipples. Trying out how the licking tongue works in that area of my body.

Honestly, I really didn’t like that. The tongue was a bit too small and too hard and I wasn’t enjoying it. The rotating head on the other hand did perform much better. On the lowest rotating setting the head was moving around just enough.

For me, the head is a bit big and it didn’t slide in as easily as I would like it without the lube. But that’s ok – we love lube.

Once it was in, due to the size of the head I could really feel the head rotating inside of me. I absolutely enjoyed the feeling. The handle is very easy to hold and thrust, as well as using the buttons to scroll through the patterns. 

I loved all of the rotating patterns and I think Joi has a nice variety of them. 

Then I turned on the licking tongue. That part was just ok for me. First I placed it directly to my clitoris and it was too intense for me even at the lowest setting. The feeling was much better when I positioned the tongue over my clitoral hood. 

I liked the combination of the two and I think Joi does a really good job at dual stimulation. 

One thing I disliked is the fact that I had to move the tongue away from my clit when I started cumming due to overly intense feeling. I would like to keep using it on a lower setting but unfortunately the lowest setting was a bit too much for me at that point. 

Other uses of Honey Play Box Joi

Regardless of the licking tongue being called “clit licking tongue” it can also be used as a rimming tongue. And since the head is rotating the G-spot is easily reachable when turning the toy around and placing the tongue to anus.

It makes it harder to hold the toy as well as changing the patterns but this was undoubtedly the best and the most pleasurable use of the tongue for me. This is the situation where I would like to include my partner in the play.

Because of the hook-like ending, Joi is also anal safe and the rotating head can reach and massage the P-spot as well. Which I think is great because it can be used by both me and my partner. 

Additional information

This part is a novelty in our reviews and here, I’m going to try and interpret the information for folks who are often not mentioned in online reviews.

For bigger folks

To use this toy you need to be able to comfortably reach your genitals and hold it for the duration of use which may cause additional fatigue. 

For older folks

The highest vibration is pretty strong. The buttons are easy to find and easy to push mid-use. After initial placement the toy has to be held lightly otherwise you may push it out.

For folks with disabilities

I wouldn’t recommend this toy for folks who experience increased sensations because the vibrations are very strong and rumbly. On the other hand, it would be a good option for folks who experience decreased sensations.

For transgender & gender-diverse folks

My wish was to include information on how this toy would work for transgender and gender-diverse folks but this is far out of my scope of knowledge, so if someone would like to pitch in, please do!

Final words

I like that the Joi is so versatile in ways that it can be used and also by whom it can be used – both vagina owners and penis owners. 

Joi is a great masturbation toy but it’s also a great addition to partner play. 

I love the bright orange color and the simplicity. And for the price of $68.99 I believe it’s worth the money.
